About the Designers
Taya and Silvija Koschnick
Growing up under the guidance of our mother, a jeweler and bead historian (www.beadparadise.com), we were encouraged to explore the art of jewelry design. We discovered early on how collaboration can enrich a design from concept through execution. Together, we started Tasi Designs in 2007, combining our visions for unique, wearable jewelry.
Our jewelry is inspired by our search for rare and unusual materials, as well as researching the history behind them. We pay special attention to where our materials originate, and try to always buy from importers with integrity and humane practices.
High quality materials are central to Tasi Designs Jewelry. We use: hand patinanted precious metals, natural semiprecious gemstones, vintage American and European components, and historically rich antique and ancient trade beads. Using these elements, we create a distinct jewelry collection that builds on the tradition of personal adornment.
Past and current exhibitions include: The Columbia City Gallery (Seattle), The Arts Center (Corvallis), The Fowler Museum at UCLA Shop, The Portland Art Museum Shop, and the Portland Bead Society (featured artists, Oct. 2008). Publications include: Perfect Patina (Interweave Press, 2008), necklace and earring designs (Stringing, 2008 & 2009), and Metal Beads (Lark Press, 2010).
